Balmain's Main Man...Leaving?

Christopher Decarnin, one of YEOJ's favorite designers is ending his 6 year stay with the design house label. The only reason released is that it is just "the end of the collaboration." This is a shock because he has made the brand so fabulous these past years. Critics have made remarks about this haute rock n' roll brand as borderline trashy with all of the glitz and glamour. According to YEOJ the critics are tasteless...YEOJ is a  critic and YEOJ loves it and Christopher. There hasn't been a replacement made for Balmain but we at YEOJ hope it is someone with the talent as the magnificent Mr. Decarnin.

OLSEN Textile Launch

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen just launched their textile line this past week for Elizabeth and James. There was a The Beverly Hills Hotel party in Los Angeles the other night and they said the line is going to be a "more casual, lifestyle version" of their other brand The Row. These girls are certainly not taking any breaks in the fashion industry any time soon. They are CFDA nominees for womenswear of the year award. There is no slowing down for these two major fashion forces. YEOJ is excited to see the rise and rise of their creativity.

DVF-ing right NOW!

The 1970's are officially back in action and who other than to fully exude this trend than the great Diane Von Furstenburg. She successfully made the trend look chic from head to toe without taking the trend too literal and it is easy to make a decade such as the 70's look like a costume show but yet again she knocked it out at NYFW. Here is one of the looks that was shown on the runway that here at YEOJ we are dying for and I am sure you are too!

Marc Jacobs Fall 2011

to Turban or Not to Turban?

Cold Weather is NOT an excuse to dress like a frumpy eskimo and wear a hood while walking down the street. A great alternative to wearing a hood is a simple ski hat that you can get at a variety of retailers or if you want to adorn yourself in the latest trend the turban. The turban has been a middle eastern culture headpiece for centuries and has been introduced into main stream street style since the high-fashion world designers produced them into their runway shows. If you prefer a more suttle look and do not want the full-on turban look you can simply wear the "Tur-band." This is just like a head band, only thicker to cover the ears from the bitter cold weather and the front has the turban effect consisting of the knot and gather of the material. Cotton or Velvet are very chic fabrics to look out for while shopping for a turban or turband.

Size Matters

Possibly the biggest mistake of all is not wearing clothes that don't work or 'fit' your body. The best way to look slimmer and smaller is to wear clothes that fit you. Just because you are frightened to go up a size does not mean the worst...every store's sizing is different. Therefore, go with the size that fits you correctly and you will look wonderful!

Sexy with Snow Boots?

Our old winter weather friend is back...not the snow but the "Snow Boot!" These boots are functional if you live in the frigid and snowy climate of New York City. They are actually quite cute if wear them with a pair of leggings or a skinny pant. Other alternatives that are functional/affordable/and stylish would be the rain boot. If you dare to stay really trendy and want to keep a sexy look in a pair of heels there are affordable winter weather heels with rubber bottoms @ ZARA that look chic and wont leave you sliding down the street on your bum like those soft bottomed Manolo's will.
